I have only just started studying Ninpo but have been very impressed with the attitude and teaching of Jason and the high level grades, who assist us learners. Looking at the syllabus and what the other students are doing, the depth of study is incredible, and even after 4 lessons I am starting to feel more fit! I certainly plan to continue studying here, and am really enjoying the training.

How Do I Become A Student?
If you are interested in becoming a student at the Kinkan Dojo, the first thing to do is contact the dojo using the contacts information on this website. We will answer any questions you may have and talk about the goals you want to achieve within your training.
We will then book you in for a free introductory class. This is an opportunity for you to evaluate our approach and learn some techniques, all without any obligation or pressure to join. At this class you will get a feel for what we do and meet the senior grades at the dojo, who will personally guide you through your first class.
After this initial training session an instructor will sit down with you and answer any queries you may have, and invite you to continue training in our student orientation period. This consists of training for a further 4 lessons to help you understand what we expect from our students and gain further insight into how we can help you achieve your martial arts goals. You pay the regular class fee for these 4 sessions still with no obligation or pressure to join.
If your orientation period is successful you will be invited to join the dojo as a regular student, should you wish to do so.
It is important to recognise that attending these initial classes is the hardest step. You will be putting yourself into unfamiliar territory and probably stepping outside of your comfort zone. It is normal for people to feel nervous or worried about stepping into a martial arts class, especially a traditional Japanese Dojo environment.
Please remember that every student at the dojo has had the same experience, including the most senior students. It is important to give yourself time to adjust to this new environment and not expect too much from yourself. You are beginning an amazing journey of self development that will provide you with many valuable life skills over time. We will do our best to make you comfortable during these initial classes with us, and a senior student will dedicate their time during these classes to help you.
Many new students find it much easier to start with a friend, so please do let us know if you are planning to bring along a friend to your first class.
